The look and feel used the colour way from Titan’s poster campaign. The site structure centres around the four courses and allows users to discover information on each course and apply online.

There is also a course chooser feature which asks the user to fill in a set of questions aimed at helping them decide which course is most suitable for them.

Henley Business Group specialise in the sale of Businesses. They offer a suite of services that help some who wishes to successfully sell their business.

The design of the site is corporate, modern yet at the same time evokes a feeling that the company is competent and trustworthy. The blue and gold theme combines well with a range of greys to convey a strong business theme.

This was achieved though a muted colour pallete of soft blues, brown and cream. The image theme was mediation, calm and relaxation suggesting that Open Source was stress free and easy to use.

Technology - The OpenAdvantage web site was created using Plone CMS. Plone allows a huge amount of flexibility in designing custom content types. Using Plone allowed us to design a very custom backend system that could be easily used by the marketing manager as well as having deeper, more complex functionality for the technical staff.

We decided that a customised version of WordPress would suit there needs as David, one of the company owners had experience working with WordPress in the past.

The colour scheme was Navy, silver and Gold. We used this colour palette and combined it with a clean modern design to give the site a corporate yet modern look.

The imagery used of the people in silhouette was selected as it fitted in really well with the colour scheme and modern feel. The beauty of the silhouette images is that they are timeless.

The site is coded using WordPress with a number of plugins included to add functionality and improve the backend administrator interface.

Technology: The existing Flint & partners web site had been created in Joomla! and the client had problems remembering how to use the administration interface.
The colour scheme of blue and gold was chosen to suggest quality and differentiate the site from other Golf review web sites which were mainly green.

Technology: WordPress was used to create the site. Custom content types were created to build the course review sections of the web site. The WordPress blog functions were used to allow visitors to add there comments about courses. One of the reasons we used WordPress was the simple Administration system and the flexibility of the framework.

I felt Space Invaders would work as a visual theme. It’s extremely iconic, bold and simple. The typeface I chose is the typeface used on the ZX Spectrum. I decided instead of pictures of the four presenters it would be fun to pick space invader characters that suggested them.

The colour palette is 16 bit thus contains all the classic colours from early computing.

I have developed a poster and the web site has used the elements that I created.

Web site: We used the rough look of the logo type to inspire us for the web design. The site design is based on urban rough textures and dark colours, the idea behind this is to give a textured interesting background that contrasts with the white content text and bright images. The designs once approved were then sliced up to the clients specifications and send on to the programmer who used them to build a web site. MSE design liaised with the programmer on graphic edits as they were needed.

The thinking behind the theme was to keep the feel of the wood cut stamp that the logo had and translate that feeling into the WordPress theme using rough edges and bold colours.

Technical: I supplied the sliced up graphics to AR web Solutions who created a basic web page which was then converted into the final WordPress template.

Design: Afia’s Fresh Home Cooked Indian Food is a new catering company. I spoke to Afia about what she would like to represent her business. She requested something simple with strong colours. From our discussions it was revealed that two of the key ingredients in her her dishes were lime and chilli.

I decided to integrate a bold type with the shapes of the lime and the chilli. I used a stylised cut in half lime has the top the dot of the ‘i’ character and I used the chilli as the apostrophe. The colours suggested them selves and I tied them together with a dark green. The strap line used a warm red to compliment the green and tie into the red used for the chilli.

I also created an image using the lime and chilli motifs together so that this could be used as a badge either supporting the logo or on it’s own.

I delivered the client a style guide for this logo outlining how it should be used in various situations. Versions included: Full colour, grayscale, single colour and an alternative colour version for dark backgrounds. The style guide contains all of the colour information for: CMYK, RGB and web. I also included details of the font used and created a secondary colour pallette.

Design: THE MELTING POT is a social enterprise that seeks to unlock and empower the budding entrepreneurial talents of young people and women from BAME (Black and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds.

It aims to build upon the innovative potential of individuals by promoting enterprising talents and raising aspirations of young people and women in the West Midlands.

I had an initial meeting with The Melting Pot management team and gathered information about the project. They wanted a bold design that linked to the idea of cultures blending together.

The circle suggests the structure of The Melting Pot. The orange gradient combined with the spiral swirl conveys heat, energy and power mixing together.

I chose Fruitger as the logo type font. I like the bold qualities of the ultra black weight. I feel this gives the logo an aura of strength and power. The ultra weight is legible at very small sizes which is important as this logo needs to work within the full range of media.

I delivered the client a style guide for this logo outlining how it should be used in various situations. Versions included: Full colour, grayscale, single colour and an alternative colour version for dark backgrounds. The style guide contains all of the colour information for: CMYK, RGB and web.
